Square Enix has officially locked in a Spring 2027 release window for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The confirmation came during Gamescom Opening Night Live alongside a new trailer that expands on the story and gameplay.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi presented the latest look at the game, which continues the journey of Cloud and his allies as the Planet faces its greatest crisis. The trailer mixes cinematic sequences with gameplay footage and focuses heavily on the legendary Weapons, the massive creatures that awaken to protect the Planet.

The new footage opens with a Shinra broadcast addressing the threat of Meteor and the Weapons, with Rufus Shinra assuring the public that humanity will prevail. From there, the trailer showcases several of the iconic Weapons in action, including clear looks at Ruby Weapon, Emerald Weapon, and Ultima Weapon as they clash with Shinra forces and the party.
Gameplay segments highlight new systems and traversal options. Tifa appears in a Black Mage-inspired FITS outfit, part of a new system that equips characters with specialized roles and abilities drawing from classic Final Fantasy job classes. Exploration sequences show the party using parachutes, grappling hooks, and Chocobo mounts, while a submarine section introduces underwater combat and navigation centered around the Huge Materia.
Additional moments include the Highwind engaging a Weapon in the air and further teases of the escalating conflict as the party prepares for the final stage of their journey.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is planned as a simultaneous multiplatform release. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store. Players with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will unlock special bonus Summon Materia in the new game.
The Spring 2027 window aligns with earlier indications from Square Enix and gives the team additional time to polish the concluding chapter of the trilogy. No more precise date within the season has been announced.
Revelation follows the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth as the final chapter in Square Enix’s expansive retelling of the original 1997 classic. With the major remaining story beats, the full threat of the Weapons, and the confrontation with Sephiroth still ahead, the new trailer positions the game as a large-scale conclusion that expands both combat systems and the scope of exploration.
