The Game of Thrones video game was originally scheduled for an "early 2012" release, but the video game publisher, Atlas, has pushed the date to a May 15th release according to recent reports.
With over 15 million books sold worldwide and a hit television adaptation that was the winner of two primetime Emmy awards, the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels by George R. R. Martin is one of the most popular fantasy franchises of all time. With the addition of the "Game of Thrones" video game, fans of the franchise will not only have a chance to read and watch the series, but to also take an active role in the drama as it unfolds.
The game will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. With an original story written under the supervision of Martin, Game of Thrones promises to deliver the ultimate interactive role-playing experience for fans. The game is filled with familiar locations straight from the pages of the beloved fantasy saga along with the likeness of some actors portrayed in the series.
Game of Thrones will offer around 30 hours of gameplay. Gamers will play as Mors, sworn brother of the Night's Watch, and Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption who is back to Westeros after a long exile. The Hand of King Robert Baratheon has just passed away, and these two heroes will find themselves dragged into a quest that will lead them through familiar locations of Westeros, such as the Wall and its region, and the famous (or "infamous") King's Landing. They will meet famous faces during their adventure including Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider and Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, all of which are faithfully reproduced from the TV series.
