Cosmic Star Heroine is a turn-based role-playing game developed by independent studio Zeboyd Games and published by Limited Run. The game was initially released in April of 2017 for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Microsoft Windows. The game has just been announced for the Nintendo Switch and will be available on the Switch eShop on the
14th of August.
This RPG is the byproduct of a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that took place in 2013. Upon release, the game got a positive reaction from critics and players, praising the game's combat syste, the art style, and its soundtrack, although the story was found to be a bit lacking—mainly because of underdeveloped characters.
Inspired by other titles in the genre,
Cosmic Star Heroine borrows some of the best elements from games like
Chrono Trigger,
Final Fantasy VII,
Suikoden,
Phantasy Star, and even
Mass Effect to some degree. The game's art style is clearly inspired by those RPGs from the 16-Bit era, and the combat is heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger as there are no random encoutners and players see the enemies on the screen.
The Nintendo Switch version of
Cosmic Star Heroine will be available on the Nintendo eShop on the
14th of August but Limited Run has said that they are planning on releasing a physical copy of the game either later in 2018 or early in 2019. They have also announced that pre-orders for the game will become available pretty soon and they will be offering a 10% pre-purchase discount.
3 exotic planets to explore. Aliens. Robots. Magic. Forbidden technology. Ruined Worlds. Ghosts. Long-lost secrets. Conspiracies. A galactic threat. And one brave heroine to make things right.
