The writing on the wall is now official, BioWare Montreal is no longer a studio. The studio who was behind the total failure that was
Mass Effect: Andromeda will be dissolved, with most of the devs joining Motive, the studio that is currently creating the Star Wars: Battlefront 2's single player campaign. EA is saying its a "merger," but with all the problems Mass Effect Andromeda had at launch, it is probably a good thing its being labeled a merger.
The Mass Effect Andromeda was not doubt rushed and a long list of diffuculties followed when it was released to the public. Because of the difficulties sales where nowhere near where they wanted to be. The game did so poorly that the Mass Effect franchise has no plans for future games. It is note worthy that BioWare Montreal originally was demoted a "support studio," but are now a ghost studio.
Here is what EA had to say about the demotion and the ultimate destruction of BioWare Montreal;
“The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we’re driving collaboration between studios on key projects. With multiple major projects in development in Montreal, we are merging BioWare Montreal with Motive Studios. This is an ongoing process, but there are many exciting roles and opportunities for everyone on the team. BioWare continues its work on new titles – including the highly-anticipated game, Anthem.”
It was recently revealed that the game's
single player DLC got cancelled. The game isn't as shaky as it once was, but it appears BioWare is just ready to move on and never talk about it again. It is probably a good thing since Anthem looks like it could use as many devs as it possibly can. Anthem looks amazing!
