For the longes time, 13 years to be precise, fans have been wanting Square Enix to announced a new entry in the popular The World Ends With You series, and today they have finally delivered, announcing the brand-new NEO: The World Ends With You.
First things first, not much information has been revealed about NEO: The World Ends With You, but we do know that the upcoming title is currenty being developed for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and that it is expected to launch at some point in Summer of 2021.
This announcement trailer for NEO: The World Ends With You also introduces us to a brand-new roster of main characters. While the roster is new, however, everything else preserves the look and feel of the original The World Ends With You, so fans should feel right at home when the next game eventually comes out.
Square Enix has been giving the series quite a bit of love this year, in fact, since in July they also announced that The World Ends With You would be getting an Anime series that would retell the events that took place during the game.
The World Ends With You was originally released for the Nintendo DS back in July of 2007, and it made full use of the console's touchscreen at the time. The role-playing title was then ported to iOS and Android devices, and was re-released for the Nintendo Switch back in 2018 in the form of The World Ends With You: Final Remix.
While the series had already been released for mobile devices, NEO: The World Ends With You will be the first game to release on a non-Nintendo console, so PlayStation players should be thrilled with the news, especially since the game will also likely be compatible with the recently released PlayStation 5.
