The Outer Worlds, which was officially announced about two months ago at The Game Awards 2018, will be released by Private Division, a label of Take-Two Interactive (parent company of 2K and Rockstar Games) designed to make not indie, but also not big-budget titles, so don't expect Obsidian Entertainment's new game to be as vast and rich as
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt or
Fallout New Vegas.
While Obsidian doesn't have a Bethesda budget, they has something much more important: a clear idea of what they want to achieve. Game Informer has released a brand new video, with
The Outer Worlds' Co-Director Tim Cain and Lead Designer Charles Staples showing off fresh gameplay.
Quite interestingly,
The Outer Worlds will allow you to kill every single NPC in the game, including the scientist from the game's debut trailer. Of course, your actions will affect the main storyline, Just like in
Fallout: New Vegas, the main inspiration for
The Outer Worlds, the player will unlock at least several endings depending on their in-game choices. Be sure to check out the new video down below:
In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
The Outer Worlds will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
