Earlier today we got some good news regarding Square Enix and Tokyo RPG Factory's upcoming
Oninaki, as we got a brand-new trailer that focused a bit more on the game's fighting mechanics, as well as the customization of the character's Daemons.
It seems that's as far as good news go today, as a new rumor points to
Oninaki not getting a physical release here in the West; which is particularly curious, given that the previous Tokyo RPG Factory and Square Enix-developed titles,
I Am Setsuna and
Lost Sphear, got physical releases across all platforms.
According to a tweet by
Twitter user @JPSWITCHMANIA, however, their Square Enix Public Relations contact confirmed that
Oninaki would not be getting a physical release. Given that this information has not been officially revealed by Square Enix or Tokyo RPG Factory, it must be taken as a rumor. Let's just keep our fingers crossed for this to be just that: a rumor.
ONINAKI tells the story of one Watcher on a journey to protect Life, after Death. Players will uncover the mysteries of life, death and what’s beyond as protagonist, Kagachi moving between the Living World and the realm of the dead known as the Beyond.
Oninaki will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in Summer of 2019.
