In a slightly last minute announcement, Ultizero Games has decided to pull the reigns back and continue to polish its Final Fantasy and Bayonetta-inspired Lost Soul Aside, that is to say the game is not out May 30 like initially planned, but rather will find a new release date in August instead. The reactions from fans are understandably mixed, ranging from those who don't see a problem with it to others aren't pleased, as it's not fun to see a game get slapped with a delay only a month before release, moreover, it being a game that was hotly anticipated doesn't help.
“We are truly grateful for the positive response we’ve received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside. We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game.”
Game director and studio CEO Yang Bing also thanked fans for their support of the game and their patience as the game has had a long and rocky development cycle starting all the way back in 2014 for the PS4 before shifting gears and focusing the PS5. Lost Soul Aside has been public knowledge since 2016 and has been a bit hit-or-miss when it comes to keeping itself relevant, but it's been doing a fine enough job this past year, with multiple trailers and showcases to keep fans appetites whet for more.
Lost Soul Aside is also part of Sony Interactive Entertainment's China Hero Project, which sees Sony aiding in developing and further fostering China-based game development. This ranges from offering partner support, such as Unreal Engine and CRIWARE. They can also help establish quality assurance and audio support from Digital Hearts and Vanguard Sound as well as Sound Machine respectively. Moreover, marketing and promotion is also on the docket, as well as publishing, and PlayStation itself can look over the game's code and give recommendations or guidance.
Now, if you still have faith this game will come out, you can still pre-order the game on the PlayStation Network, though, if you're a PC gamer, you may have to double check if it's available in your region. Some bitter news about it is that requires PSN despite Sony pulling things back a bit with it being nothing more than offering some nifty cosmetics and incentives to link your PSN.
As it stands, assuming there is no further delay, we can expect Lost Soul Aside to launch on PS5 and PC on August 29.
