Sword Art Online: Alicization is an upcoming role-playing game developed by Aquria and published by Bandai Namco — which is based on the Sword Art Online: Alicization series of manga and anime — and that will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC(digital).
For those who have been anticipating the release of the game, we may have some disappointing news — as Bandai Namco has just announced that the launch date for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris has been pushed back, and will no longer be releasing on the 22nd of May as originally intended.
The developer reveals that they decided to delay the game in order to "ensure the best possible launch conditions" for the game. The good news is that it hasn't been pushed back indefinitely, and fans will now only have to wait until the 10th of July for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris to finally become available.
While Bandai Namco doesn't specifically mention the real reason behind the delay, it is more than likely that it has to do with the Coronavirus pandemic, and they're probably having some issues with shipments and/or final stages of development on account of the lockdown.
