The Caligula Effect: Overdose is a turn-based role-playing title developed by Aquria and published by NIS America. The game is actually a remake of
The Caligula Effect that was originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2016 in Japan, and in May 2017 in the West.
Being a remake of
The Caligula Effect,
Overdose includes enhanced visuals and better gameplay found in the original game, with new scenarions, multiple endings, and a brand new route called the "Forbidden Musician Route".
The Caligula Effect: Overdose is also adding a new female protagonist, plus two new members of the Go-Home Club, each with their own Ostinato Musician to face.
Gameplaywise,
Overdose is redefining its combat system by adding action into the mix that will see players coming up with strategies to predict their enemies and overcome any threats they may find along the way. The game also gives players the choice to befriend over 500 other students in this idyllic imaginary paradise so that they can improve their skills and finally make their way back to reality.
The Caligula Effect was received with very mixed to negative average from critics and gamers, mostly criticising the game's poor performance on the Vita, tedious and long battles, and lack of a proper character bonding system. Hopefully
The Caligula Effect: Overdose manages to fix all of those issues and improve on the original experience.
Check it out:
An idyllic world that exists for the sake of letting people forget about the pain and problems of reality. In this world created by a sentient vocaloid program, μ (Mu), reality and fantasy has become blurred, allowing people to relive their high school years in bliss.
The Caligula Effect: Overdose will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in 2019.
