There's no denying that Obsidian Entertainment’s first
Fallout: New Vegas-like video game in years,
The Outer Worlds, is a highly anticipated title that has a shot at making those who find Bethesda's
Fallout titles literally unplayable happy. In
TOW, you take on the role of a daredevil who finds themselves in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy Halcyon, the furthest human colony from Earth.
In a recent interview with Dual Shockers, Charles Staples, the game’s Lead Designer, and Megan Starks, a Senior Narrative Designer on
The Outer Worlds, have revealed some all-new details on the new RPG.
When it comes to
The Outer Worlds' game engine, "
developing all of these systems from scratch in Unreal has been a challenge. But yeah, once it starts to all come together it’s a matter of us being diligent about keeping in mind all the playthroughs and the ways we want players to be able to have certain options and the different styles that players will play through the game," Staples said.
At its core,
The Outer Worlds is a role-playing game, so it comes as no surprise that your in-game choices will affect the game's epilogues, at the very least in some capacity. "
We are ending the game with end slides that say this is the outcome of the game based on your choices and actions," Staples added. "
Based off of different things that you’ve done, it will have drastically different effects."
According to Starks,
The Outer Worlds will allow you to traverse its bizarre world with two companions.
Given that E3 2019 is finally starting in a couple of weeks,
The Outer Worlds' official release date should be officially revealed relatively soon – as it’s an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC – at least at launch.
In The Outer Worlds, you awake from hibernation on a colonist ship that was lost in transit to Halcyon, the furthest colony from Earth located at the edge of the galaxy, only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy it. As you explore the furthest reaches of space and encounter various factions, all vying for power, the character you decide to become will determine how this player-driven story unfolds. In the corporate equation for the colony, you are the unplanned variable.
The Outer Worlds will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
