Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was chosen by Netflix to adapt The Witcher series on the small screen. Hissrich will serve as the project's showrunner and also executive producer. She previously worked on Marvel's superhero dramas The Defenders, Daredevil and Starz's Power.

In May, Netflix announced that it's actively developing an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. The rumor says that the studio plans to adapt the first two books, Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. Hissrich joins executive producers Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Platige Images' Jarek Sawko and Tomek Bagiński, an Oscar nominee for The Cathedral.
