Valkyria Chronicles is a series of tactical role-playing games set in an alternate universe where the 20th century world is at war.

The latest entry in the series, Valkyria Chronicle 4, was released a few days ago for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Given that the series has been around for a while and its lore is quite extense, Sega has come out with a clever way to introduce newcomers to the series to the long history behind the Europan wars.

Today, Sega has released a new video for Valkyria Chronicles 4 that has fictional historian Douglas Welch tell us all about the first Europan War and the second Europan War—all of this in a bit over 5 minutes—in a video that seems to have come right out of the History Channel.

Take a look:

In the year 1935 EC, the continent of Europa is split between the Federation and the Empire. As the Imperial army dominates the Eastern Theater, the Federate forces launch Operation Northern Cross, a last-ditch effort to tip the scales.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
