MARVEL RIVALS Announces Spring Festival With New Costumes And Limited-Time Game Mode

Marvel Rivals's next in-game event is just a few days away! The Spring Festival brings cool character costumes and a limited-time game mode that draws comparisons to Overwatch's Lucioball.

Although we're still technically a couple of months away from Spring, NetEase is ready to usher in the Spring Festival for Marvel Rivals. The newest in-game event is set to kick off this week on January 23rd, and will introduce a limited-time game mode as well as numerous cosmetics.

Marvel Rivals' new game mode is basically superhero soccer. Referred to as Clash of Dancing Lions, the mode features a 3v3 format on a specially designed map. The goal is quite simple: gain possession of the soccer-like ball and try to score it in the designated zones on either side of the field.

If that sounds familiar, it's because it's pretty much a knockoff of Overwatch's Lucioball. There are some differences between the two though.

While Overwatch's Lucioball has every player using Lucio in the match, Marvel RivalsClash of Dancing Lions features three playable characters: Star-Lord, Iron Fist, and Black Widow. Each character's unique abilities will also come in handy when trying to secure and maneuver the ball, which is closer to the size of an average ball compared to the characters.

Beyond this game mode, the Spring Festival will feature a Gallery Card customization event - Fortune & Colors - as well as multiple cosmetic rewards. In the trailer below, you can get a glimpse of the special character costumes inspired by the Clashing Lions series, including Star-Lord: Lion's Mane, Iron Fist: Lion's Gaze, and Black Widow: Lion's Heartbeat.

May the golden lion's mane guide your fortune and bring you strength this season. Join the celebration now and let the magic of the Spring Festival unfold!

Marvel Rivals' Spring Festival will go live on January 23rd at 1:00 a.m. PST, which feels a bit odd considering it's snowing in multiple states across the United States right now. In any case, look forward to the new game mode mode and more coming in just a few days!

In other news, today also marks the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC. NetEase is celebrating the event with a special bundle that includes the Advanced Suit 2.0 costume, nameplate and spray. This will be available beginning January 30th.

Released last month, Marvel Rivals has taken the competitive scene by storm. The 6v6 team-based shooter has drawn comparisons to Blizzard's Overwatch, although the fact that it's completely free-to-play and every character is immediately unlocked and playable has won gamers over. And that's not even addressing the gameplay which is solid as well. Marvel Rivals is available to play for free on consoles and PC.
