There's no denying that
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden was one of the biggest (positive) surprises of 2017, as The Bearded Ladies' first major project, published by Funcom, has not only received glowing reviews (its highest-rated Xbox One version is currently sitting at 80% on Metacritic), but also sold really good; so good that the game will get a brand new challenge mode at the end of February!
Funcom has announced
Stalker Trials, a separate challenge mode that will populate a selection of the game’s huge maps with different types of enemies, will release relatively soon, even featuring a leaderboard that will let you compare your combat skills with your friends. The DLC will be available first on PC, but the Bearded studio is planning to bring it to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the future.
According to the devs,
Trials will grant you access to "
all crew members, mutations and skills, but you’ll have to buy and upgrade weapons, Armor and headgear will be unlocked along the way. Once you head out you can choose a map to play through." By beating it, "
Pripp will score you on your progress and reward you with items. You can use these in a new map, or sell them at Iridia’s shop."
Mutant is set in a "post-human" world which has been destroyed during the nuclear holocaust. When the dust settled, the children of atom became the only remaining survivors and last hope of humanity.
A tactical adventure game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with story, exploration, stealth, and strategy. Take control of a team of Mutants navigating a post-human Earth. Created by a team including former HITMAN leads and the designer of PAYDAY.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW!
