EA Sports has confirmed plans to officially reveal EA Sports College Football 25 his week. The publisher added a countdown to the game's official website with the timer set to end on May 16 at 11:00 a.m. ET.
While EA has previously teased a May reveal for the highly anticipated football game, the publisher confirmed the Thursday date following a recent PlayStation Store listing that prematurely leaked the game's cover.
Ahead of the reveal, the PlayStation Store set live the product page for EA Sports College Football 25, revealing cover art and a screenshot of Notre Dame players preparing to run out the tunnel inside Notre Dame Stadium.
The page also contains a brief game description. Details confirm 134 FBS schools will be included, along with "optional in-game purchases of virtual currency that can be used to acquire virtual in-game items, including a random selection of virtual in-game items."
EA hasn't shared much about the highly anticipated game, which will be the first college football video game since NCAA Football 14 was released back in 2013. One of the biggest changes to the series is EA dropping the "NCAA" branding from the series, as well as the publisher finally being able to pay student-athletes for name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals.
The NIL lawsuit was one of the main contributing factors to EA ending the college football series back in 2014. Student-athletes are now allowed to be paid for their name, image, and likeness with players who opted-in for College Football 25 offered $600 and a free copy of the game on the platform of their choice.
With licensing deals no longer an issue, the first cover revealed for EA Sports College Football 25 features Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado athlete Travis Hunter front and center. We also see Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins in the background along with players from Clemson, USC, and Notre Dame.
The leaked art on the PlayStation Store was for the "Deluxe Edition" of the game, which suggests there will be multiple versions available for purchase. This is not entirely surprising as EA tends to release various editions of their sports titles, each with different in-game benefits and usually with different cover art.
Thursday's highly anticipated reveal will hopefully give us our first look at EA Sports College Football 25 gameplay and provide in-depth details about all of the modes and features offered in this year's game. It's widely expected that EA will introduce a version of its popular Ultimate Team game mode, but what we all really want is the return of Dynasty.
EA Sports College Football 25 is expected to release this July. We'll hopefully get firm release date on Thursday as well.
