Rainbow Six Siege is undoubtedly on of Ubisoft's biggest success in recent years. It not only managed to gather 25 million registered players, but just like
Counter Strike 1.6 and
Quake, is a regular E-sport "discipline". With the upcoming
Operation Chimera and the cooperative
Outbreak event (with zombies!), it seemed unlikely Ubisoft would abandon the evolving game and greenlight a sequel.
Speaking with Eurogamer, Series Brand Director Alexandre Remy confirmed that Ubisoft has an ambitious 10-year plan for
Siege and aims to release around 100 operators during its lifetime which means that we shouldn't expect to see
Rainbow Six Siege 2 until the next decade. "
We are saying extremely loudly here: there is no sequel planned," Remy said in a chat with Eurogamer. "
We will be here for the next 10 years. So expect more Rainbow 6 in your life for quite some time."
Operation Chimera also brings a new Pick & Ban mode, new maps and smaller updates. The game will be constantly supported by the developer and publisher alike and it seems that the franchise's future is brighter than ever. Where's my new
Splinter Cell with
Michael Ironside, though?
Rainbow Six: Siege - Outbreak will release on March 6th.
