The Iron Galaxy crew is best known for porting other developers' games, including
Borderlands 2 (PlayStation Vita),
Destiny (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3),
Batman: Arkham Knight (Windows), and
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Nintendo Switch). Their latest attempt on creating their own game,
Extinction, looks like a problematic project, described as "
a good blueprint for a more interesting game."
The game's first reviews are out and
Extinction has dropped to a "perfect" 50/100 on Metacritic with 16 new reviews. Interestingly enough, Iron Galaxy's product sits at a dreadful 1.4 using the user score.
IGN has released a new video, showcasing the first 12 minutes of
Extinction. The video features some really poorly made cinematics (and I'm being generous here), easy trial missions, repetitive fighting the same enemy, and the first encounter with a bigger ogre, ending with a brutal fatality. Take a look:
From time immemorial, the world has been at war. For generations, humans have fought one another for land and riches while our true enemies have lurked in the distance: throngs of ravenous monsters standing 150 feet tall that aim to destroy our kind. Only those trained in the ways of the ancient order stand a chance at defeating these monstrosities, known colloquially as "ogres." You are one of the world’s last defenders, a warrior named Avil equipped with the skill, speed and strength to oppose the endless wave of Ravenii and prevent a fate worse than death: Extinction.
Extinction is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
