The Walking Dead developer Telltale Games, who is known for developer interactive-adventure games based on popular franchises, have confirmed they are working with Netflix on a new Stranger Things game. TechRadar initially broke the news about the game based on Netflix's hit sci-fi show, though Netflix has since issued a more official response.

"The Stranger Things project is being published by Telltale at a later date, not on the Netflix service," the company said. "It's part of our marketing and title promotion efforts."

Separately, Telltale Games addressed the announcement with a confirmation of their own on Twitter.

At this point, it's entirely way too early to speculate what to expect from the game, other than assuming it will be an interactive adventure game in the same vein as all of Telltale's other properties. The big question now is if we'll be playing as the main characters of the show or if Telltale will introduce new characters to explore the Stranger Things universe with.

As for the actual show, production of season three began in April. It's expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2019.
