Announced at E3 2018, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a new, dark and twisted gameplay experience developed by FromSoftware which will launch in early 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Sekiro will allow players to enter the world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan - a brutal period of never-ending life-and-death conflict. As tensions rises, a compelling new story unfolds amongst spreading chaos.
According to Hidetaka Miyazaki, the famed director of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, "Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a different kind of game. Our previous titles have been action RPGs, this time it’s an action adventure." The genre is not the only thing that differs Sekiro from the rest of Software's games, as "There are lots of cool new things that I’m looking forward to fans enjoying. Particularly the new story format, or at least the fact that the main character is a big deal in the story. The new ways to explore the world, and the new way that you’re going to become more and more powerful."
At its core, Sekiro is a third-person, action-adventure single-player only game that puts players in the role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. It sounds like the action fans will fall in love with the upcoming slasher, as there will be no professions or classes to choose from and you should also forget about leveling up the protagonist's stats. According to FromSoftware, more details will be released in the coming months.
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf”, a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death. Bound to protect a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, you become the target of many vicious enemies, including the dangerous Ashina clan. When the young lord is captured, nothing will stop you on a perilous quest to regain your honor, not even death itself.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
