According to sources, the Assassin's Creed movie will need a strong international showing to turn a profit. During the first 6 days of release the movie grossed $22.5 million at the box office. The down side is that the movie had a budget of $125 million dollars and to close the gap the movie will need to make up a ton of ground internationally.

The good news for the movie, is that the Assassin's Creed games do very well internationally and a bigger turn out is expected much like fans of the Warcraft game did for the movie. Fox distribution chief Chris Aronson had this to say about the first six days, "This start exceeded our modeling," he said. "We'll be the beneficiaries of a strong holiday play period."

Hopefully they're correct. Many were hoping that Assassin's Creed would have been the first video game to break the streak of awful video game movies. Hopefully there is a strong showing internationally, because there are more Assassin's Creed movies in the pipeline.
