At this point is hard to understand why Nintendo still can't grasp the concept of cloud saving; when considering that they have been offering this feature since their Nintendo Switch Online service was made available in September of 2018.
The latest game to be involved in a cloud saving-related issue is Nintendo's first big launch of the year, no less:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons. According to some new information shared on
Resetera by user Meelow, the new
Animal Crossing still isn't compatible with Nintendo's save data cloud backup, but it will at some point in the near future.
As translated by Resetera member Meelow, Nintendo's announcement reads as follows:
This software does not support "Cloud save backup" feature in Nintendo Switch Online. We are planning to have a save backup function for this software, available to Nintendo Switch Online users. Schedule of this feature is unconfirmed. We will keep you update.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is expected to release for the Nintendo Switch on the
20th of March, so it is quite likely that this issue will be non-existent by the time the game finally launches.
What's weird is that we're only a bit over a month away freom the game's launch, and Nintendo deciding to make
Animal Crossing: New Horizons compatible with their save data cloud backup this late is not very Nintendo-like.
