Astral Chain, the new intellectual property developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo, was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch just a few weeks ago; with a very solid 87/100 on review aggregator site Metacritic.

While there was a bit of an impasse, mainly because of some salty players who got upset over the game releasing only for the Nintendo Switch, the reception has been great among fans of the genre and critics — which has made people wonder if Astral Chain will be getting any sequels.

In a recent interview with Bunny Gaming, Astral Chain Director Takahisa Taura has shared some information regarding eventual sequels — especially since misinterpreted information hinted that he wanted to make a trilogy — and other interesting bits of information about the game's accesibility.

"I can only say that the idea of a sequel at this point is something I am unsure of and I do not have the current sales figure right now," replied Taura when asked about the possibility of Astral Chain getting sequels in the future, while also adding that he will be "very happy if the game is well received and sells well!"

When it comes to the alleged trilogy that PlatinumGames had planned for Astral Chain, Taura is quick to shut down the rumor and clarify that it all started because of a mistranslation from another interview he did.

"The trilogy remark was actually a mistranslation from a previous interview. I actually meant to say that I do have a lot of ideas at my disposal and if there’s an opportunity to make a sequel or more entries, I’d be able to do so."

One thing that players noticed when they first got the chance to play Astral Chain, was the fact that the game was quite accessible for newcomers. Interestingly enough, Taura didn't really intend to make the game beginner-friendly; it just happened that way.

"Well actually, I didn’t intend for Astral Chain to be beginners friendly. As a matter of fact, I was aiming for the opposite of that. But I am happy if they (beginners) found the game approachable."
