The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was shown off on the Nintendo Switch at Bethesda’s E3 2017 Press Conference, with new features and Amiibo support!
Surprisingly, Skyrim on Switch features motion controls… Nintendo have perfected motion controls, but they normally never work properly when done by third party publishers, especially when tacked on to add more selling points to the game (Super Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers’ The Way of The Hado game mode is the perfect example of this), however, if it does work properly, it has the potential to be incredibly fun and engaging for new and returning players.
Fellow Nintendo and Zelda fans should be pleased as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Nintendo Switch has Amiibo functionality. Owners of The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild Link Amiibos will be able to scan the Amiibo in and wield the iconic Master Sword, use the reliable Hyrulean Shield and wear Link’s bright blue outfit from Breathe of the Wild. The Amiibo unlockables even enter the game in traditional Zelda fashion, through a chest.
Skyrim is an old game, so these new features are necessary to re-sell it to fans that have already spent hundreds of hours on it. Bethesda realise this and focus on the main selling point in the trailer, by mainly showing off Skyrim running in the Nintendo Switch’s portable mode.
