Earlier today, some rumours made their way online, revealing that Nintendo may be considering releasing a bunch of remastered versions of Super Mario Bros. games for the character's 35th anniversary; the list includes titles like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and both entries in the phenomenal Super Mario Galaxy series.
This information was initially reported by Video Games Chronicle, and later backed up by Eurogamer, giving fans of the Super Mario Bros. series even more reasons to get excited over these alleged remasters — especially since it isn't just the one remaster, but quite a bunch of classic titles.
Venture Beat's Jeff Grubb is now reporting that they have also some sources that not only confirm the remasters previously mentioned, but that these would be bundled in the same vein the NES games were bundled and remastered in the SNES' Super Mario All Stars.
While it is very possible that all of the 3D Super Mario games could be bundled together, there is also the possibility that they could end up being released individually in the same way The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD were released on the Wii U.
Paper Mario has also been name-dropped as one of the games that would be announced for Mario's anniversary, and this would agree with a rumou claiming that the classic Nintendo 64 role-playing title would be remastered and released on the Nintendo Switch alongside a 2D Metroid game.
Of course this is all rumoured, but there is no way that Nintendo would miss an opportunity like Mario's 35th anniversary to re-release, at the very least, one new game or remastered version of an old title in order to celebrate. We will have to wait for an official announcement; one that cannot come soon enough.
