Luigi's Mansion is one of Nintendo's most interesting series, as it is part of the
Super Mario Bros. universe but its main protgonist is, like the name very appropriately suggests, Mario's younger brother Luigi. The premise of the game had Luigi looking for his missing brother in a haunted mansion; having players going on a ghost-hunting quest to save Mario.
What's even more interesting is that the
Luigi's Mansion series is incredibly popular, but it has only seen two games being released over 10 years apart; with
Luigi's Mansion 3, the latest entry in the series, having been announced last year and expected to launch at some point this year.
As it is to be expected from Nintendo,
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon(the second title in the series) improved upon the game's core gameplay mechanics; adding some new things that kept things fresh and yet familiar for players who had played the first game back in the GameCube era.
Luigi's Mansion 3 will also be improving on the gameplay mechanics from its predecessor; more in particular in regards to boss battles and puzzles, according to the game's top producers Yoshihito Ikebata and Kensuke Tanabe.
"
More than anything we really wanted to put those unique bosses in the second one and we couldn’t, so that’s why we’ve put so many of them in the third one," explained Ikebata, as Tanabe adds that they wanted
Luigi's Mansion 3 to be a more exciting game in terms of boss battles; at least more than
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
"
To be completely honest, when I was playing Dark Moon, I told Ikebata-san that if it were me, I would remake a lot of the bosses. I really wanted a more exciting kind of boss battle when looking to create the new game. In creating this game, one of the first things I requested of NLG is to really bring the excitement when you’re fighting the boss battles."
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is by no means an average game, with some very creative boss battles that defiitely set a new bar for the series, and it is great to know that this new entry will outdo its predecessors in that area.
Luigi's Mansion 3 still hasn't been given an official release date, but it is expected to launch at some point
in 2019.
Wield the upgraded Poltergust G-00 to slam and blow away the ghosts’ defenses, or summon Gooigi, an all-green doppelganger that can help Luigi overcome obstacles he can’t get past alone. In ScareScraper mode, race the timer to clear various objectives on a series of floors with up to 8 players. Luigi’s Mansion 3 will suddenly appear on the Nintendo Switch this holiday 2019!
