We may have some exciting news for fans of the Super Mario Bros. series, as new information seems to suggest that Nintendo is currently hiring people to work on a brand-new 2D action game.
The information comes from Nintendo Japan's official Twitter account, where they shared a tweet that reveals the developer is currently looking for a Level Designer for new 2D action game. While the game is not specified, the tweet itself features screenshots from several Super Mario Bros. games — so it is safe to assume this is, indeed, the case.
Where things get even more interesting is when Nintendo posts yet another tweet, this time revealing that they are also looking for a Level Designer to work on a new 3D action game; again, not revealing what the game is but the tweet also suggests it could be a Super Mario Bros. title.
Nintendo's most recent 3D Super Mario Bros. game is Super Mario Odyssey, which released in October of 2017, while the most recent 2D game is Super Mario Maker 2 that launched in June of this year — so they could definitely be working on a new game that features both 2D and 3D levels, or two completely unrelated games.
Again, Nintendo doesn't confirm that these new games are Super Mario Bros. titles, but chances are that the developers are always working on new Mario games any way. We'll just have to wait for more information to be revealed; this is still pretty exciting news, though.
