The latest rumour doing the rounds seems to suggest that Nintendo could be hosting one of their highly anticipated Nintendo Direct presentations very soon. In fact, leakers have reportedly revealed that this presentation could be streamed as soon as this week.
Before we proceed, we need to provide some context on who these leakers are, and what they've accurately predicted in the past. With that said, however, it is still best to take this information with a pinch of salt, since none of this has, in any possible way, been confirmed by Nintendo.
This information was hinted at by Resetera user NateDrake — the same leaker that predicted with accuracy that an Indie World presentation would be streamed by Nintendo today, which did end up happening — who has teased that this Nintendo Direct will be streamed on Friday the 28th of August.
Interestingly enough, leakers have resorted to posting cryptic messages that hint at possible dates within a month, by making random comments about any topic; be it in relation to the topic at hand, or just a completely random comment in which they randomly post numbers — which can be interpreted as possible dates.
Resetera user C.Tsubasa, also a well-known Nintendo leaker, also made a rather interesting comment about Spanish football team Barcelona losing out 8-2 to Bayern München last Friday. User NateDrake also made an unrelated comment that included the numbers 2 and 8; possibly hinting at this Nintendo Direct presentation happening on the 28th of the month.
Again, take this with a pinch of salt, but NateDrake knew the release date of Paper Mario: The Origami King way before Nintendo officially announced it, and predicted today's Indie World presentation last week; say what you will, but the user definitely has some contacts within the industry.
Things get even more interesting, as GamesBeat editor Jeff Grubb has also seemingly supported the idea that a Nintendo Direct will be taking place at some point between today and the middle of September. If he really does have some knowledge about this presentation, it is obvious that he wouldn't flat out give us the date; then again, take all of this information with a pinch of salt.
The last fully fledged Nintendo Direct was streamed in September of last year. Ever since, Nintendo has released Direct Mini presentations, some even unannounced, in order to share information about video games; most likely due to the work from home policies after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whatever the case, this is still exciting news if true. Nintendo Direct presentations have become something that gets players ridiculously excited for, and it is about time Nintendo released a proper presentation and revealed more details about their own upcoming games.
