Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will officially open up on April 24, 2025, Nintendo announced today. There's been uncertainty surrounding the console's availability and pricing amid the United States' ongoing tariff war, but it seems that Nintendo has finally crunched the numbers.
The standalone Switch 2 console will remain priced at $449.99, while the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will remain as announced at $499.99. Additionally, pricing for both physical and digital versions of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will also remain priced at $79.99 and $69.99, respectively, unchanged from their originally announced price.
There were concerns that the recently implemented tariffs by the United States would result in a price increase for the Switch 2, as the majority of the consoles and its components are manufactured in China, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian locations. It seems that Nintendo was able to make it work at its current pricing though -- at least for the time being.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the Nintendo Switch 2 accessories. Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2's accessories "will experience price adjustments from those announced on April 2 due to changes in market conditions."
As it currently stands, here are the manufacturer's suggested retailer price for the Switch 2 and its accessories:
- Nintendo Switch 2 - $449.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle - $499.99
- Mario Kart World - $79.99
- Donkey Kong Bananza - $69.99

- Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99
- Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2 - $59.99
While Nintendo has largely been able to avoid a price increase for the Switch 2 console, the company notes: "Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions."
As a quick recap, the Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a large 7.9-inch built-in LCD screen that display in full HD at 1080p. The newly designed Joy-Con 2 controllers now magnetically attach to the Switch 2 console and can also operate like a mouse by sliding it on a surface. The system comes with 256GB internal storage which can be expanded with microSD Express cards. One of the big new features is GameChat, which lets a group of up to 12 people chat while playing games.
Barring any unexpected setbacks, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5th.
