Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and
Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee! had a very lukewarm reception by "hardcore fans" of the
Pokémon series mainly because these new games were being considered somewhat of a spin-off and not a main entry in the series; which was never really the case.
The thing is that even the games' director, Junichi Masuda, has already said that
Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee! were not spin-offs and are, in fact, a remake of the classic
Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition. Another thing that had some fans up in arms was the fact that
Pokémon Let's Go is, indeed, a spin-off of
Pokémon Go; which is a slightly different take on the traditional
Pokémon games but for mobile devices.
Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and
Pokémon Let's Go, Eevee! were finally released on the 16th of November, and naysayers were proven wrong since the games have already been described as the definitive version of the traditional
Pokémon titles
Red,
Blue,
Green, and
Yellow.
Both the
Pikachu and
Eeevee versions have been getting very positive reviews from media outlets, critics, and players alike, and today Nintendo has released an accolades trailer that flaunts some of the favourable reviews the games have been getting.
