Astral Chain is PlatinumGames' brand-new intellectual property — which is an action game with hack and slash elements in the same vein of
Bayonetta and
NieR: Automata — coming out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the
30th of August.
The game was revealed in February of this year, and the developer has been slowly revealing interesting details regarding the main story, its characters, and gameplay mechanics that will even allow for 2-player cooperative mode.
In a recent interview with
IGN Netherlands,
Astral Chain's Director Takahisa Taura revealed that they have no plans to release post-launch content for the game — which is great news, as the game will be a complete experience since day 1.
Perhaps the most interesting detail that Taura dropped is the fact that
Astral Chain will actually be a series of games, and the upcoming title will be the first in what the developer expects to be a trilogy, although there is only one rather obvious catch: the game needs to sell well before they decide to continue the story.
"
We [want to] make the game as a trilogy and [Astral Chain] is the first part of that trilogy. If this game sells well, then we may see how the story of the series continues," explained Takahisa Taura.
Astral Chain is only a couple of months away from releasing, and players are already getting excited for it — considering that all of the gameplay footage that PlatinumGames has released looks fantastic — so it is likely that the game will sell well and players will get their trilogy in the end. All we have to do is play the waiting game until
Astral Chain releases in August.
Astral Chain is a new action game from PlatinumGames, the creators of the Bayonetta™ series. As part of a police special forces unit in a multi-cultural futuristic city, players work together with a humanoid special weapon, Legion, in a synergetic action system of battle and exploration.
Astral Chain will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 30th of August.
