Project Octopath Traveler is a working title for the brand new IP releasing early next year. Fortunately, fellow fans eager to get their hands-on the game won’t have to wait as the demo is now available on the Nintendo eShop. The demo allows players to get their hands-on 2 of the game’s 8 classes; the Dancer, Primrose from the Sunlands and the Warrior, Olberic originating from the Highlands.
Players will venture through the faraway lands of Orsterra with each character’s unique character commands, such as Olberic’s ‘challenge’ where he can battle almost every NPC in the game or Primrose’s ‘allure’ allowing her to dance NPCs into a trance making them follow her. This unique feature will greatly enhance the player’s ability to role-play as they will almost be able to do whatever their character allows them to.
Want to fight everyone in a town for absolutely no reason? Go ahead!
If you feel like alluring random villagers just to make them fight monsters way out of their league and die? Do it!
As the game is from the developers behind Bravely Default, you can expect a traditional turn-based combat system with a unique, tactical twist. Project Octopath Traveler features the ‘Boost System’. Players can accumulate ‘Boost Points’ for every turn they take in battle, the points can be used to dramatically increase the power of your attacks and abilities or can be used for chain attacks.
The game boasts ‘2D-HD’ visuals; a blend of (you guessed it) 2D and HD visuals to create a beautiful art style that will leave the player in a constant state of awe.
