Nintendo streamed a
Super Mario Maker 2 Direct presentation this week, revealing a bunch of new features we didn't know about the sequel to the acclaimed
Super Mario Maker on the Nintendo Wii U.
One of the things that were revealed, was that players would be able to design levels with the help of a friend, as well as being able to play online with random players.
While designing levels with a friend isn't really a synonym for playing these levels with said friend, it appears that this will, indeed, be the case — as the people over at GameXplain noticed something very interesting that was shown during that
Super Mario Maker 2 Direct.
On the official
Super Mario Maker 2 website, it says that Number of Players for the game is 1-4; suggesting that up to 4 players will be able to play levels using one Nintendo Switch console, as opposed to playing online — which allows two to four players in Co-op mode, as well as local wireless.
In other titles like
Splatoon 2, for example, the Number of Players category simply says 1 — and
Splatoon 2 is a game that only allows for one player to play the game on a single Nintendo Switch console; suggesting that
Super Mario Maker 2 does support up to 4 players playing on the same console.
Super Mario Maker 2 allowing up to four players on the same Nintendo Switch is great news, as it opens up even more fun ways to enjoy the game that was already a blast to play alone. Whatever the case, players will still be able to play the game with their friends in Online or Local Wireless mode; 4-player Multiplayer mode on a single Nintendo Switch console would be the cherry on top.
In this new game, a sequel to the original Wii U™ game, players can create the Super Mario courses of their dreams, with access to even more tools, items and features, including the new ability to create slopes for the first time.
Super Mario Maker 2 will be available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 28th of June.
