The World Ends With You: Final Remix is Square Enix's most innovative role-playing game on the Nintendo DS, and one of the most innovative games on the console.
The game took full advantage of all of the features the Nintendo handheld console had, most remarkably the touchscreen—which in and of itself was pretty innovative for a console back in 2006.
When Square Enix announced that they were working on
The World Ends With You: Final Remix, for the Nintendo Switch, people wondered if gameplay would be severely affected due to the console not featuring the double screen of the DS.
It turns out that the Nintendo Switch version will allow players to play
Final Remix both in handheld mode are in dock mode; each offering different ways to play. In handheld mode, combat can be done using the console's capacitive touch screen. When docked, players will be able to use their Joy-Con controllers as pointers by making use of its motion sensor.
Today, Nintendo has released a new gameplay trailer that gives us a better idea of how the combat system will be handled.
