The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best open-world experiences in recent years, as well as one of the best titles in the series since its humble beginnings back in 1986. The game was released in March of 2017 for the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U, becoming a hit overnight and getting perfect scores by several media outlets.
It hasn't stopped there, since the game has still been selling like hotcakes; and in Japan
Breath of the Wild even managed to become the
best-selling 3D title in The Legend of Zelda series—dethroning
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which held the title of best-selling 3D
Zelda game for almost 20 years.
A recent earnings report has revealed that
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has now managed to hit a major milestone as the game managed to sell over 10 million copies since its launch with 10.3 units sold. Two other titles have also managed to sell over 10 million units with
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe selling 11 million copies, and
Super Mario Odyssey selling more than 12 million units.
The report also shows that the Nintendo Switch was able to outsell the Nintendo Wii U, as well as the Nintendo GameCube, with a very respectable 22 million units sold since the console launched in March of last year. This is only a recent report but the Nintendo Switch is expected to sell even more now that
Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee! is just around the corner, and
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate—widely considered to be a console-seller title—will be releasing just in time for the Holidays on the
7th of December. It is fair to say that the Nintendo Switch has had a great run so far, and it seems that it will only get better from here on out.
No kingdom. No memories. After a 100-year slumber, Link wakes up alone in a world he no longer remembers. Now the legendary hero must explore a vast and dangerous land and regain his memories before Hyrule is lost forever.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
