According to Nintendo's end of the year fiscal report (their fiscal year ends March 31), approximately 2.74 million Switch consoles have been sold since the units launch on March 3, 2017. So in 28 days, the Switch averaged almost 1 million unit sales per day!  Prior to the new console's launch, Nintendo stated that they hope to sell approximately 10 million units of the Switch in its first year of production.

In Japan, 600,000 units were sold while that number doubles to 1.2 million in North America.  On the software side, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold 3.84 million copies, with 2.76 million of those sales belonging to the Switch (it's been previously reported that a number of gamers have purchased BotW even though they don't actually have a Switch, yet).  However, the Pokemon franchise still reigns supreme for the legendary video game company as Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon sold a staggering 15.44 million copies worldwide.

The report also gives a potential final sales figure for the Wii U, which is ending production in the wake of the Switch's launch.  The company says it sold 760,000 Wii units in 2016, bringing its total sales figure to 13.56 million units since its launch back in November 2012.
