Obsidian Entertainment announced in July of last year that The Outer Worlds was also going to be releasing for the Nintendo Switch and that the game, unlike other platforms for which it had been previously announced, would be launching at a yet-to-be-determined date in 2020.
In February of this year, however, the developer revealed that the game was being pushed back indefinitely, and that they would be annnouncing the new release date soon. This delay was due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but Obsidian Entertainment reassured players that the development team were fine and safe.
Eventually, Obsidian Entertainment finally revealed that The Outer Worlds was ready for take off, and that the game would be launching for the Nintendo Switch on the 5th of June; a date that hasn't been changed, so players will be able to get their hands on the critically acclaimed title next Friday.
Today we have some fantastic news regarding the Nintendo Switch version of The Outer Worlds, as Eric DeMilt, Production Director at Obsidian Entertainment, has revealed that the game will support gyro controls; a feature not present in other versions.
The people over at Nintendo Everything have also got information from Private Division — the game's publisher — that The Outer Worlds will run at 30 frames per second in 1080p when docked, and in 720p when played in handheld mode. Great news for those anticipating the release on Switch.
