As Ubisoft's biggest release of the second half of the year (as long as
Watch_Dogs 3 isn't miraculously announced at June's E3 2019),
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint has some fairly large shoes to fill – as October usually belongs to the global publisher’s long-running
Assassin's Creed franchise.
Considering that
Breakpoint is being made be well over 1,000 developers from different studios, it comes as no surprise that the upcoming third-person shooter will be huge – and not only when it comes to the amount of activities to do and length of the main storyline, but also sheer scope.
According to Creative Director Eric Couzian,
Breakpoint's map may be even bigger that
Ghost Recon: Wildlands when it's all said and done – as that 2017 title still offers one of the biggest playgrounds in the history of open-world games, with a map 3x times as big as the one in 2013's
Grand Theft Auto V.
"
I won’t compare it to Far Cry but what I can say is it’s as big as Wildlands," Couzian explained, basically confirming that the recently revealed
Breakpoint will be yet another Ubisoft behemoth.
Given that E3 2019 starts next month and Ubisoft's annual press conference will be held on Monday, June 10 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00AM ET, 7:00AM GMT, 6:00AM on June 11 AEST), it's rather safe to say that
Breakpoint’s fictional island on Auroa will be one of the stars of the French publisher's show.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse, hostile, and mysterious open world that you can play entirely solo or in four-player co-op. Injured, without support, and hunted down by ex-Ghosts, you must fight to survive while lost in Auroa. Choose the right alliances and decide how to take down your toughest enemy.
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 4, 2019.
