According to
Videogamer, the next
Mario Kart game will be released within the first THREE MONTHS of the Nintendo Switch's launch. Unfortunately, rather than being a ninth instalment of the franchise, it will actually be an updated version of the Wii U's
Mario Kart 8 containing all of the DLC content released for that title. This is still obviously just a rumour for now, but the news is disappointing.
However, it's not all bad as the site goes on to mention that this version of the game will contain quite a lot of exclusive content which will only be for the Switch. That means more tracks, new characters, and even an updated Battle Mode. The latter received a lot of criticism, so Nintendo reworking it is definitely a relief, though there's no denying that a
Mario Kart 9 would have still been more exciting!
More details about the Switch will be released in January, so for now, stay tuned for updates.
