After years of trouble and finally fending off Vivendi takeover, Ubisoft has decided to open two new studios, one located in Mumbai, India, and the other in Odesa, Ukraine. Both studios will work in collaboration with Ubisoft studios worldwide and thousands of developers (Ubisoft had over 9,000 employees around the world back in 2009) on "AAA", big budget video game development.
Ubisoft Mumbai will open in June as the publisher's second studio in India, joining Ubisoft Pune. "
Our ambition is to contribute towards the development of the Indian videogame ecosystem by partnering closely with top schools and institutions," said Jean-Philippe Pieuchot, managing director for Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. The new division in Mumbai will work on supporting Ubisoft's major brands such as
South Park, Just Dance, Far Cry, and
Steep. The studio will be home to 100 employees.
Ubisoft Odesa, which is already open for business, will be the second Ukrainian studio, joining Ubisoft Kiev. "Ubisoft first came to Kiev 10 years ago and since then the team grew and took on challenging projects, but alongside Kiev, we've always been interested in Odesa and thus the perfect occasion for us to show this was by opening an office there," said Sebastian Delan, Managing Director for Ubisoft's Eastern European Hub. "We're really glad to see the industry evolving in Ukraine and to see so many people who are passionate about game development." The studio is currently accepting CVs.
