Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima's most ambitious project ever, was just released last week; finally giving players the world-changing experience they had been waiting for since the game was originally announced almost 5 years ago.
While the game may have received somewhat mixed reviews from fans of Kojima's previous work, most agree on the story being already worth your time and money; giving credit where credit is due.
What has been an undeniable suprise, however, is the fact that Kojima Productions' long-awaited
Death Stranding has already managed to become the biggest video game IP(intellectual property) of this generation in Japan.
This information does exclude Sony Entertainment Interactive's
Knack, since the game was bundled with PlayStation 4 consoles at launch in Japan.
According to the information shared by
@GameDataLibrary,
Death Stranding is the biggest new IP launch since Bandai Namco and From Software's original
Dark Souls.
With all that said, it was also reported that
Death Stranding was actually the worst launch for a Hideo Kojima title since
Zone of the Enders, and pretty much every title in the
Metal Gear Solid series; again, this is only considering titles released in Japan.
Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.
Death Stranding is currently available for the PlayStation 4.
PC version expected to release in Summer of 2020.
