Last week we reported that some rumours had been doing the rounds, which suggested that two — or, maybe even more—
Wii U titles would be ported to the Nintendo Switch, and that these could end up being released as soon as this year.
The information came from Nintendo insider Emily Rogers, who has had a rather spotty track record when it comes to leaking accurate information, but this did sound like something more than plausible; considering that Nintendo has already ported pretty much their entire Wii U catalogue to the Switch.
As it turns out, some new information may possibly confirm Rogers' claim, as IGN founder Peer Schneider seems to have recently confirmed not only that the rumour was true, but that this game may be a real-time strategy title.
According to Schneider, during IGN's latest Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, "
The secret Wii U ports that are being discussed...one of them is a 9 out of 10 for me, and one of them is more of a 6 out of 10. ...I really liked what Nintendo did with their take on real-time strategy games."
While Schneider doesn't exactly tell us what the name of this mysterious Wii U title is, the only Nintendo-developed Wii U title that fits the descrpition of a real-time strategy game is
Pikmin 3 — which initially released in 2013.
What's interesting is that Schneider's sayings confirm what Rogers said, and the fact that
Pikmin 3 may be one of the games that will be ported to the Switch is still exciting news for fans of one of Nintendo's most neglected series. Fingers crossed for this to be true.
