A YouTube era has ended as Machinima has shuttered its doors, laying off a total of 81 staffers.  The news comes after 19 years of operations and the release of some notable content, such as:
  • Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series
  • Mortal Kombat: Legacy
  • Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist
  • Street Fighter: Ressurection
  • Transformers: Combiner Wars
Rumblings of something amiss first surfaced in January when all of the various Machinima YouTube channels were set to private.  With news of the shutdown, it has been revealed that all previously released Machinima content has reverted to their respective creators.

A multichannel network, Machinima had contracts with YouTube creators around the globe to produce content that would then be distributed under the Machinima brand, which at its peak, constituted 12 million subscribers.  Machinima had begun a rebranding effort in February 2018 just before Warner Bros. was acquired by AT&T in June 2018.
