A recent study conducted by Strategy Analytics is predicting that next year Nintendo will be outselling Sony and Microsoft in the console market; which would make The Big N regain its number 1 position since 2009, when the Nintendo Wii became the best-selling console of that generation.
According to the prediction by Strategy Analitics' Global Game Console Market Forecast, the Nintendo Switch will sell 17.3 million units worldwide, while Sony closely tailing Nintendo with 17.1 million PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles sold, and Microsoft barely sellin 10.0 million Xbox One and Xbox One X systems.
Back in April, Nintendo had sold almost sold 18 million units as they were closing their fiscal year. The Japanese company also predicted they would sell 20 million Nintendo Switch systems during this 2018 fiscal year.
This past
Black Friday saw Nintendo's new Pokémon title becoming the 4th best-selling item, leading to the Switch becoming the
3rd best-selling item during Cyber Monday, as well as the best-selling videogame console as a whole, with Sony and Microsoft completely absent from the Top 10 of best-selling items.
If Nintendo manages to keep this holiday momentum going, it is very likely that they'll end up outselling Sony and Microsoft but, as of not, we'll just have to wait and see how the Switch does in 2019.
