Before we get started, take this rumour with a pinch of salt since this is mostly speculation. Now that we've got that out of the way, it seems that Activision is planning on announcing a
Crash Team Racing remake during The Game Awards; which will take place on the 6th of December at 10:30 PM GMT-3.
The rumour started on Facebook with rather cryptic, although pretty straight-forward, racing flag replacing the Crash Bandicoot PS4 banner; which led people to believe the site was alluding to
Crash Team Racing.
That
Crash Bandicoot PS4 Facebook profile is not an official account ran by Activision, so that could've simply meant anything, but the rumour has been gaining some credibility after PlayStation Access presenter Hollie Bennet posted an intriguing photo of two Crash-coloured furry dices with the following message attached to them: "Sliding into the Game Awards on 6/12". Eurogamer reached out to Activision, but the developer did not reply.
Again, this can be a huge coincidence but Activision has teased other projects in a similar fashion, like when they teased the
Spyro: Reignited Trilogy by sending a purple, scaly egg to IGN News Editor and PlayStation Lead Jonathon Dornbush back in April; only to reveal the game a couple of days later.
This is all speculation, but history might as well repeat itself and we may end up with Activision formally announcing either a
Crash Team Racing remake, or a brand-new entry in the long-neglected
Crash racing series.
