For the longest time, rumours have been claiming that Nintendo and Netflix have teamed up in order to produce a series based on the popular The Legend of Zelda series. Netflix has had a pretty good track record when it comes to series they've produced, so it isn't far-fetched to think that they could do a good job.
The Legend of Zelda fans are not even split on this kinds of news, since a live-action adaptation sounds like a pretty bad idea. With that said, if anything could make it work, it is probably Netflix, and the latest rumour doing the rounds claims that the role of Link is already being discussed.
According to sources close to this possible The Legend of Zelda project, and as first reported by We Got This Covered, Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland would be the man who would be playing Link. Interestingly enough, sources claim that the producers are still undecided on whether this will be a movie or a TV show, as both are being currently discussed.
Tom Holland would be a pretty good fit for the role. He does remind us of the original Link from the first and second The Legend of Zelda games, as well as the Link from that awful, and yet charming The Legend of Zelda animated series from the late '80s.
With that said, this is like the kind of casting that sounds too predictable to be true. It's like Tom Hardy being the perfect fit for every role imaginable, or fans wanting Bryan Cranston to be in every possible movie out there, and so on.
Whatever the case, Nintendo is unlikely to want to work with Netflix after all of the controversy with the Netflix-produced film Cuties, and nobody will blame them for it. In fact, Netflix is in pretty deep sh*t because of it right now, so even if this ends up happening, it is unlikely to get the support from fans.
Furthermore, rumours like these have been going around for almost a decade, so it is very likely that Tom Holland being considered to play Link in a possible The Legend of Zelda project is also not true.
