Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the most beloved video games based on George Lucas' popular space opera series, and it is also a game that many fans wish that it would've gotten a sequel. While there have been rumours about another title being developed in the past, none of these have turned out to be true.
As reported by Cinelinx, Electronic Arts could possibly be working on a new
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic right now, and they reveal to have two sources that support this information; one of which is credited for accurately revealing that Ewan McGregor had signed to star in a then-unannounced
Star Wars series that would focus on Obi Wan Kenobi.
According to one of the sources, this new game is the rumoured remake that has now been picked up again by Electronic Arts, while the other source claims that this isn't really a remake, but more of a reimagining of the original
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic; although it could also be a sequel of sorts.
When it comes to rumours about
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, fans pretty much know not to get their hopes too high.
After the success Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has had, it is now — more than before, at least — possible that EA saw this as a good opportunity to focus on the rumoured project once again.
With all that said, this is only but a rumour and, as such, should not be taken too seriously. We'll just have to wait for an official announcement from Electronic Arts; until then, it is best to take this news with a grain of salt.
