Back in March of this year, Sega announced that they were going to be releasing a retro console — in the same vein of the NES and SNES Classic — based on the iconic Sega Genesis, which is also known as the Sega Mega Drive outside North America; scheduled to release on the
19th of September.
The Sega Genesis Mini would include a grand total of 40 pre-loaded classic titles from the 16 bit era, including heavy hitters like the original
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Space Harrier II,
Ecco the Dolphin,
Streets of Rage 2, and
Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition — to name only but a few.
Retailing at $79,99 USD, the Sega Genesis Mini is also including a USB Power Adapter, 2 wired controllers, and HDMI cable to connect the console to the TV, and the console's power cable; making it the best way to play some of the most iconic and classic titles of the 16 bit era.
As the Sega Genesis Mini becomes available today, Sega has released an accolades trailer that shows off some of the overwhelmingly positive reactions this phenomenal retro console has been getting from various video game media outlets.
It is also worth mentioning that the Sega Mega Drive Mini will not be releasing today, as Sega announced last month that the console will be releasing in Europe and the Middle East on the
4th of October; the good news is that it is only two weeks away.
