Back in May, SNK officially relvealed their SNK Neo Geo Mini, which is a miniature version of the original Arcade cabinets from the 80s. The Neo Geo Mini comes as a way of celebrating the SNK 40th anniversary, offering two versions of the mini console depending on the continent they were released in; with the red cabinet for Asia and blue cabinet worldwide.
The SNK Neo Geo Mini came with 40 classic SNK arcade titles that included some iconic games like The King of Fighters '97, Metal Slug, and Samurai Shodown 2, among many others. The system is also able to be connected to the TV via an HDMI port, as well as including ports for two external controllers, and a headphone jack; making it a very versatile console for Arcade enthusiasts.
Today, SNK has announced that they will be releasing yet another version of the SNK Neo Geo Mini just in time for the Holidays. The new Neo Geo Mini is a Christmas-themed mini arcade cabinet, and will be including all of the hardware peripherals out of the box. The original console did not include HDMI cables or the external controllers. On top of that, the Christmas-themed Neo Geo Mini will also come with 48 pre-loaded games, which is 8 more than the original came with.
While this is nice and all, it does feel like a slap in the face for fans who have already purchased the regular Neo Geo Mini, especially since the console has barely been out for two months and the Christmas-themed Neo Geo Mini is, by far, a better deal than the original was. Whatever the case, pre-orders for the new console are currently available at SNK's official website, although we haven't been given an official release date for the product just yet.
Revolutionary NEO GEO MINI packed with 40 games offers an authentic Arcade experience both on the go and at home thanks to a high quality LCD screen and HDMI connectivity.
