Considering that
Dead Cells is a winner of many "Game of the Year" awards and vastly popular video game among gamers, making a sequel would seem like a natural move on the developer Motion Twin part. While many studios would instantly greenlight another chapter of this recently released hit title, the Bordeaux-based game development studio is not even thinking about making a
Dead Cells 2.
“
In terms of a sequel, we know for sure it’s not a good idea to dwell on your success. If you create a big hit, it’s best to use this energy to make something different. I don’t think we’ll make a Dead Cells 2,” designer Sébastien Bénard said in an interview. “
We’re more open to creating more content and opening the game up more to the community. If we did make a Dead Cells 2, it’s because we really need the money (laughs). We don’t want to stick to the same thing though, so I think if we did come back it would be something quite different, not a platformer or roguelike along these lines.”
Bénard hasn't revealed what is Motion Twin's next big thing, but it most certainly won't be a sequel to
Dead Cells or any of their pervious titles such as
Hammerfest, My Brute, Mush, or
Die2Nite.
Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle... assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.
Dead Cells is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch NOW!
